Natural Materials Note: Water hyacinth varies naturally in colour and texture. Allow approximately ±5% dimensional tolerance.

What is water hyacinth, and why is it used for storage baskets?

Water hyacinth is a freshwater plant whose stems can be harvested, dried and woven into household products. The prepared fibres create a textured appearance different from traditional willow or rattan. In this basket, the woven material is supported by a metal frame to help maintain its circular structure.

Will the basket retain its shape when empty?

Yes. The water hyacinth is woven around a supporting metal framework, which helps the basket remain upright and maintain its round shape even when nothing is stored inside. This makes it suitable for use as a decorative piece as well as a practical storage container.

Is the basket suitable for storing laundry?

It can be used for dry laundry, folded towels and spare household textiles. However, the basket is unlined, so particularly delicate fabrics may benefit from a separate fabric insert. Avoid storing damp clothing for extended periods, as water hyacinth is a natural dried plant fibre.

How should I care for the woven material and grey border?

Remove dust using a soft brush or vacuum attachment on a gentle setting. Wipe minor marks with a lightly dampened cloth and allow the basket to dry naturally. Avoid soaking the fibres or leaving the basket in persistently damp conditions.
