This two-tone mini shopper is a small oval wicker basket woven from full buff willow and full unpeeled willow together. It is 23 x 18 x 10 cm, stands 23 cm to the arched handle, weighs 100 g, and works as a child’s shopping basket or a small gift hamper.

Pale buff rods and dark unpeeled rods are woven in alongside one another: the buff stripped bare, the unpeeled with its bark left on. The body matches our Mini Oval Shopper, whose handle sits 4 cm higher.

Which part is the dark willow?

The dark rods are unpeeled willow, with the bark left on. They are woven in among pale buff rods that have had the bark removed, so the pattern runs through the whole basket rather than sitting in a band.

How is this different from the Mini Oval Shopper?

The body is identical, 23 x 18 x 10 cm at 100 g. That one is buff willow throughout with a 27 cm handle; this one adds the unpeeled rods and its handle is 23 cm.

Will the two tones stay different as it ages?

They will both fade and warm up, and the gap between them narrows over years rather than months. Kept indoors and out of direct sun, the contrast holds well.

Is it big enough to use as a gift hamper?

For a small one. At 23 x 18 cm and 10 cm deep it takes a few jars, a bar of chocolate and some shredded paper. For a hamper that feeds a household, look at our rectangular shoppers, which start at 32 x 25 x 15 cm.
