Double Steamed Split Handle Wicker Mini Shopper
This mini shopper is a small oval wicker basket built from full double-steamed willow with a split willow handle. It measures 21 x 16 x 8 cm, reaches 19 cm at the top of the arch and weighs 100 g, a child-sized shopping basket for egg hunts, posies and gathering herbs.
The arch is split willow, threaded down through the full willow body rather than fixed to the rim, and the two thicknesses are what give the basket its two tones. Our Mini Double Steamed Shopper carries a full willow handle instead.

FAQs
What does splitting the willow do?
A split rod is one whole rod cut down its length, so it comes out narrower and flatter than a full one. It bends more readily, which is why it is used for the arch here while the sides stay in full rod.
Is the handle fixed or does it move?
Fixed. It is woven down into the sides of the basket rather than hinged, so it stays upright and there is no joint to loosen.
How does this differ from the Mini Double Steamed Shopper?
Both are double-steamed willow at 8 cm deep and 100 g. This one is 21 x 16 cm with a split willow handle, the other is 21 x 17 cm with the handle in full willow to match the body.
Will it stand up to a child using it?
It is a woven basket rather than a toy, so it will mark and soften with handling, which willow does. Nothing is glued or pinned on, so there is no part to snap off.
