Sold as a bare ring with nothing on it at all: full antique wash willow is wound over a chipwood core, and the core holds the circle, so no metal frame is needed inside. Winding rather than weaving leaves gaps along the band.

Those gaps are the point: stems and florist wire push straight in, so foliage, dried flowers or ribbon can be worked in and taken out again. Most people buy it as a base and build it up for an internal door. Laid flat, it also works under a table centrepiece.

What is chipwood?

Thin shavings of wood pressed into a form, used here as the core the willow is wound around. It gives the ring its round shape and most of its 300 g.

Is it decorated at all?

No. It comes as bare willow with nothing added, which is why people buy it as a base and build on it.

Can I wire foliage onto it?

Yes. Florist wire passes through the wound willow easily enough, and the chipwood core gives it something to bite against.

Are the bigger rings the same thickness?

No. The 37 cm and 49 cm rings are 8 cm deep, twice the 4 cm band on this one, so they are noticeably chunkier.
