The handle is willow, woven into the body as a single arc rather than bolted on. The basket under it is oval, in full light steamed willow with real tan leather fittings, in two sizes, standard and child's, each unlined or with a removable cotton lining.

The lid opens in two halves either side of the handle, so one side can stay shut, and carrying from above keeps it from swinging open. Storage, gifting and carrying produce all suit the standard size; the child's is a working basket at a smaller scale, with a wider choice of lining colours.

Is the leather real?

Yes, tan real leather on both sizes. Most of our storage baskets use a faux trim, so this is one of the few where the fittings are the genuine article.

Is the child's size a toy?

It is a working basket at a smaller scale: 29 x 22 cm and 350 g, with the same lid, the same handle and the same leather. Children use them for picnics and collecting; plenty of adults buy them for storage and gifting.

What does the arc handle do?

It runs over the top of the lid in a single woven piece, so the basket is carried from above rather than by the rim. It also means the lid cannot swing open while it is in the air.

Which lining should I choose?

Unlined shows the weave inside and is lightest. A lining covers the interior, stops small items catching and adds about 50 g. The child's size carries the wider range of colours.
