This kid's bike basket is a light steamed wicker bike basket with tan faux leather straps, sized for a child's handlebars. It measures 25 x 20 x 16 cm on a 20 x 16 cm base and weighs 300 g. It fits the front of a bike or a scooter, and lifts off to carry.

The straps are the fitting. Two tan faux leather straps buckle round the handlebars, so there is no bracket to bolt on and nothing to leave behind when the basket comes off. That also means it moves from one bike to the next as children grow out of them, which a fixed fitting never does. Light steamed willow keeps it pale and keeps the weight down to 300 g.

How does it attach to the bike?

Two faux leather straps buckle around the handlebars. There is no bracket and nothing to fit with tools, so it goes on and comes off in a moment and can be moved between bikes.

Will it fit my child's bike?

It suits most children's handlebars. The basket is 25 x 20 cm and 16 cm deep, so check you have that much clear space above the front wheel and below the bars, particularly on smaller bikes with cabling at the front.

Is it strong enough to carry things?

It is a child's basket at 300 g, built for a jumper, a snack, a teddy or a football card collection rather than a shop. Heavy loads on a child's handlebars affect steering, so keep it light.

Can it be left on in the rain?

Better not. Willow kept dry lasts for years, but repeated soaking will grey it and slacken the weave. It unstraps quickly, so bring it in with the bike.
