This square rattan umbrella basket is a hallway umbrella stand woven from kubu grey rattan, 32 x 32 cm on the floor and 48 cm tall. It reaches 54 cm to the top of the handles and weighs 1.6 kg empty. It takes umbrellas, walking sticks and a furled golf umbrella beside a front door.

It weighs 1.6 kg empty, half a kilo more than the round version of the same basket, which covers a 25 cm circle. Both are 48 cm to the rim and 54 cm to the handles. Nothing is fitted inside to catch drips.

Is there room for a golf umbrella?

The opening is 32 cm square and the basket is 48 cm deep, which takes a furled golf umbrella standing up. We have not measured one with the canopy open, because nobody stores them that way.

Can I move it when it is full?

The handles are woven into two sides and the basket is 1.6 kg before anything goes in. We have not published a loaded weight, so treat a full one as a two-handed lift.

What else fits in something 48 cm deep?

Anything long and dry. Walking poles, canes, rolled posters and a shooting stick all live in one happily.

How do I stop the inside getting damp?

Shake the umbrella off outside before it goes in, and stand a shallow dish at the bottom if it is coming in soaked. The rattan has no seal on it, so standing water is the thing to avoid.
