This round log basket is woven from full willow and finished in a chestnut wash, which runs warmer and browner than a grey antique wash. Hessian lines the inside, and ear handles are set into the sides at the rim, one for each hand. A single extra large size is made.

The wash goes over the bark, so the depth of colour shifts from one length of willow to the next. It takes firewood at a fireside, kindling by a stove, or folded blankets in a living room.

• Full chestnut wash finish willow
• Hessian lining inside
• 51 cm across the top, 39 cm across the base
• 41 cm high, 49 cm to the top of the ear handles
• 1.7 kg empty
• Used for logs at a fireside, kindling by a stove and blankets or throws in a living room

Please be aware, colours may vary slightly as our products are made from natural materials.

The process of basket weaving with willow is naturally sustainable due to the relatively quick growth of the plant fibres. The artisans use traditional weaving methods and techniques to create highly decorative, but durable, pieces.

FAQs

What does chestnut wash look like next to antique wash?

Chestnut runs warmer and browner; antique wash sits grey. Both are applied over the bark of full lengths of willow, so neither finish is flat.

Are the ear handles big enough for two hands?

They are set into the sides at the rim and take one hand each. Ask us for a grip size and we will measure one if that decides it for you.

Does the hessian sit loose or is it fixed in?

The basket is lined in hessian. Ask before ordering whether the lining lifts out and we will check one in the warehouse.

Is this the same basket as your extra large antique wash one?

The measurements and the 1.7 kg weight match exactly. The finish is the difference, so choose on colour rather than on size.
