Buff Wicker Oval Picnic Basket with Lid
This buff oval picnic basket is a willow hamper with a double hinged lid, dark brown leather hinges and a twisted willow handle, measuring 41.5 x 30.5 x 23 cm, or 40 cm to the top of the handle. It weighs 900 g unlined and 1 kg lined, and comes unlined or with a removable cotton lining.
The handle is twisted willow rather than a smooth bent rod, which is the traditional way of finishing a willow handle. The lid opens from both sides of it, so you reach into either half without setting the basket down. Linings run from plain white and grey sage through garden rose to cream tartan and green tweed.

Does it come with plates or cutlery?
No, this is an empty basket. That is why the whole 41.5 x 30.5 cm is usable and why it costs less than a fitted hamper. Our fitted hampers carry settings for two, four or six.
Why two lids?
They meet at the handle and open outwards, so you only ever lift the half you need and the handle stays in your hand while you do it.
Which lining should I choose?
White and grey sage are the quiet ones. Garden rose, cream tartan and green tweed are the ones that read as a picnic basket. Unlined shows the buff willow and is the easiest to brush out.
How does it compare with your antique wash oval picnic basket?
