This rectangular hamper is woven in antique wash split willow, with a hinged lid, cream faux leather buckles and a matching handle on top. Split willow gives a flatter, finer weave than full willow and keeps the basket light to lift. It comes in four sizes, and the larger ones carry metal chains that hold the lid open.

It is used for storage and for gifting. The wash is grey rather than brown, which is why these are chosen as presentation hampers as often as storage ones. The larger sizes suit a made-up hamper, the smallest a single gift.

Which size should I choose?

For a gift hamper, work backwards from what is going in it: the 10 inch at 26 x 20 cm suits a few small items, the 12 inch a bottle laid flat with room around it, and the 14 inch at 36 x 26 cm a full made-up hamper. For storage rather than gifting, the 14 inch is the one that earns a shelf.

Are the buckles and handle real leather?

No, they are faux leather in cream, used for the buckles, the fastenings and the top handle alike.

Is it lined?

No, these come unlined. If you are dressing one as a gift, shredded paper or a folded cloth is the usual way to finish the inside.

Can I use it for everyday storage?
