Woven willow bows sit on the outside of each end of this small oval basket, worked in by hand as part of the structure rather than glued on. The willow is finished in full antique wash, the hessian lining lifts out, and a handle runs across the top. One size.

The sides run close to vertical, so the basket holds its width all the way down, and it is narrow enough to stand in front of a stove without filling the hearth. It takes kindling and firelighters, rolled hand towels, or wool beside a chair.

• Full antique wash willow, finished across the full length of willow
• Removable hessian lining
• Rim 33 x 24.5 cm over a 31.5 x 23 cm base
• 40 cm high, 46 cm to the top of the handle, 900 g empty
• Woven decorative bows on each end
• Good for kindling and firelighters at a grate, rolled hand towels in a bathroom, or wool and needles beside a chair

The process of basket weaving with willow is naturally sustainable due to the relatively quick growth of the plant fibres. The artisans use traditional weaving methods and techniques to create highly decorative pieces.

FAQs

Can the lining be washed?

It lifts out, which makes it easy to shake down or brush off outside. We would not put jute hessian through a machine; it shrinks and loses its shape.

What are the bows on the sides?

Decorative willow work, woven onto each end of the basket by hand. They are part of the structure, not glued on.

Would this fit a narrow hearth?

At 24.5 cm across the rim it is the slimmest basket in our log range, so it will sit in front of a stove without taking up the whole hearth.

Is it just a smaller version of the Oval Log Basket?

Almost. Both stand 40 cm tall with a removable hessian lining. This one is 33 x 24.5 cm at the rim and 900 g; the larger is 40 x 31 cm and 1.5 kg.
