Length without width is the point of this oval willow basket: long, low and narrow front to back, with handles worked into both ends. The antique wash finish covers all of it, and it has no lid. It fills the strip of floor beside a toilet that a square basket cannot use.

Spare rolls are the obvious load, lying in a row rather than a stack, so you take from the end instead of digging down. It lifts out one handed when the floor wants cleaning. Hand towels, flannels or magazines beside a chair suit the same shape.

FAQs

Will it fit beside my toilet?

Measure the gap between the pan and the wall. At 18 cm front to back and 40 cm long it suits a narrow run of floor, which is the usual space available. Height is 25 cm.

How many rolls does it hold?

That depends on the brand, since roll diameters vary. At 40 x 18 cm the internal space takes a row of standard rolls laid on their sides rather than a deep stack, with room to add a second layer.

Is it only for toilet rolls?

No. The same long, narrow, shallow shape suits hand towels, flannels, magazines beside a chair, or remotes and cables on a media unit.

Will a bathroom damage it?

Normal bathroom humidity is fine. What willow does not like is standing damp, so keep it off a wet floor and let it dry out if it gets splashed.
