A lidded pine box, dovetailed at every corner and fitted with two metal hinges, a clasp and hand holds set into the ends. It is sold in plain unvarnished pine or with a white wash over the grain.

The depth works for folded towels, pillowcases, tea towels and children's clothes, and it will take toys or Christmas decorations that need putting away in one go. Empty, it is light enough to lift down from a shelf one handed. Bare pine will accept paint or wax if the plain version has to match a room.

FAQs

Which of the three sizes should I choose?

The 12 inch is 30 x 23 x 11 cm, this one is 36 x 27 x 14 cm and the 16 inch is 40 x 31 x 18.5 cm. All three are the same build. This is the one most people land on, because it is big enough for toys and linen without becoming something you need both hands and a clear surface for.

Is the wood finished?

The plain version is unvarnished pine, so it will take paint, stain or wax if you want it to match something. The white wash version is finished.

Will it take a duvet or bedding?

Not a duvet. At 36 x 27 x 14 cm it suits folded towels, pillowcases, tea towels and children's clothing rather than bulk bedding. For that, a willow linen chest is the right size of thing.

How should I look after it?

Keep it indoors and dry. The hinges and clasp are metal and will mark if they are left damp.
