The base on this one is drawn in inside the rim, so the sides flare as they rise, and the back stands higher than the front. It is full white wash finish willow, with a double hinged lid, a fixed handle, and white faux leather hinges and clasps.
The taper makes it a display basket as much as a store: filled with dried stems or wool it sits on a table and shows its contents, and the handle takes it to a seat or a stall. It is built for paper goods and craft materials, not weight.

The process of basket weaving with willow is naturally sustainable due to the relatively quick growth of the plant fibres. The artisans use traditional weaving methods and techniques to create highly decorative, but durable, pieces.

FAQs
How does it differ from your other small white hampers?
Chiefly at the base. This one narrows to 21 x 14 cm while the Small White Double Lidded Hamper keeps a 25 x 16 cm base, so this has more taper and slightly less floor area inside.
Why is the base smaller than the rim?
The willow are drawn in towards the bottom during weaving, which gives the sides their outward angle. It is a shaping decision made at the loom, not a fault.
Does the white wash mark easily?
It can scuff where the basket knocks something hard, and the pale willow shows through any mark. Kept indoors it holds its colour for years.
Is it sturdy enough to carry filled?
For dried flowers, wool, favours and paper goods, yes. It weighs 400 g and is not built as a load carrier, so do not use it for bottles or tinned goods.
