A long, narrow wooden box in a dark brown finish, with a handle slot cut through the wood at each end so nothing stands proud of the sides. The base is narrower than the opening, and it is made in one size.

Narrow is the point. Most storage trays are roughly square, and a box this shape does a different job: along the back of a worktop, down the centre of a table for cutlery and condiments, or across a desk with pens and cables laid end to end. The wood is untreated, so keep it to dry goods.

No, this one comes in a single size: 33 x 15 x 10 cm. If you want a choice of sizes in a similar shape, our Dark Brown Bamboo Packing Tray runs wider at 19 and 23 cm across.

How narrow is 15 cm in practice?

About the width of a paperback, and the base is narrower still at 11 cm. A dinner plate will not lie flat in it. Jars, bottles, cutlery and rolled items sit in it comfortably.

What are the handle slots like?

They are cut through the wood at each end rather than added on, so nothing protrudes and two of them will sit flush side by side on a shelf.

Can I use it for serving?

It is untreated wood, so use it for wrapped or dry goods, or line it. Wipe it clean rather than washing it, and keep it out of standing water.
