Handwoven from full antique wash willow, this round log and storage basket features a traditional woven finish with a practical hessian lining. Its gently tapered body narrows towards the base, while a fixed arched handle provides a convenient carrying point above the open interior.

Designed for fireside storage, the basket offers an attractive way to keep logs, kindling and other household essentials organised. The hessian lining helps contain loose bark and smaller pieces of debris, while the natural willow exterior makes the basket equally suitable for storing dry textiles and decorative accessories.

What is the benefit of a hessian-lined wicker log basket?

Hessian provides a fabric barrier between logs and the woven willow, helping contain loose bark, splinters and smaller particles of debris. This can make fireside storage tidier and prevent fragments from collecting within the basket's weave. The lining also separates other stored belongings from the natural willow.

Can the basket be used for something other than logs?

Yes. Its traditional appearance and open interior make it suitable for dry blankets, rolled throws, household textiles and other accessories. The smaller baskets can be used for compact storage arrangements, while the larger versions provide more generous floor-standing storage.

What is the difference between antique wash and double steamed willow?

Antique wash is a decorative finish that gives willow a gently aged appearance, while double steaming produces a deeper brown colour through the treatment of the rods. Both retain the natural woven texture, but their colouring and overall appearance are different.

Can I use this basket as a planter?

A suitable potted plant can be displayed inside the basket, provided it sits in a separate waterproof container or saucer. The hessian is not a waterproof planting liner, so avoid filling the basket directly with compost or allowing standing water to reach the willow.

How should I clean the willow and hessian?

Remove loose dust and debris with a soft brush or vacuum attachment. The hessian can be brushed clean where accessible, while minor marks on the willow can be wiped gently with a lightly dampened cloth. Avoid soaking either material and allow the basket to dry thoroughly before use.
